Grill Cleaning Tips

Standard

For many people, Labor Day weekend is the cue that summer is coming to an end and along with it, grilling season.  Before you put the grill back into storage (or if you just haven’t cleaned yours in a while), check out these quick tips to get the grill clean and keep it looking like new.

1. Clean your grill after each use.  It will save you a lot of time and scrubbing if you simply clean off the grates after each use.

2. Deep clean your grill every few months.  If you use your grill more frequently, a good rule of thumb is to clean it after 5-10 uses.  Don’t forget to clean the outside to help prevent rust!

3. Crank up the heat.  Before scrubbing down the grill grates, turn it on high and leave it for around 15 minutes.  This will burn off most of the stuck on food.  Cleaning the grill grates with a brush while still warm will also make it a lot easier to get off the rest of the debris.

4. Find a good grill brush.  We recommend the Grill Daddy Pro Brush with Scraper Blade.  Why? This brush has a steam clean feature which helps to soften up burnt on food or grease and a comfort design handle to provide better grip and leverage.  What we like the most about this brush is that it’s longer than your average grill brush, which helps keep your hands at a safer distance from the heat.  You can find this on our website here.

 5. Soak the Grates.  If you’ve got some really stuck on bits that just won’t seem to come off, make sure the grates are completely cooled and soak them in a bucket of warm water with a little bit of dish soap for 15-30 minutes.  Scrub them with your brush again, then spray with your hose to rinse. Repeat if necessary.

6.   Spray the grates with non-stick cooking spray.  Not only will this make cooking easier, it will also help prevent buildup on the grates.

Happy grilling and enjoy the rest of the summer!  You can find the Grill Daddy Pro Brush and many other appliance accessories on our website.

  1. Great tips! My advice is to clean your grill every month especially if it is summer time and you use it regularly. This brush that you have recommended is a great brush. My husband has the same. Greetings!
