Looking to clean the inside of your clothing dryer machine? Follow these steps to safely access the inside of your drying machine.
Step 1: Turn off any source of power to your dryer. This could be simply unplugging the machine from the wall, or turning off the gas supply if that is how your dryer gets its power.
Step 2: Remove the lint screen and screws at the top of the lint screen (you will need a screwdriver to do this). Remember, do not continue use of a damaged lint screen as this could be hazardous to your dryer.
Step 3: Release the clips that hold the top of the machine to the front frame of the dryer. To do this you will need a putty knife to push into the space between the top and the frame of the machine. The release clips are about an inch in from the right and left sides of the machine. This will release the top of the machine from the frame. Make sure that the top of the machine is able to lean up against a wall so that the wires that connect it don’t strain.
Step 4: Release the door switch. (You will need a screwdriver to do this)
Step 5: Unscrew the nuts on the inside of the front frame so that you will be able to remove the front frame from the machine completely.
Step 6: Lift up on the front panel of the machine, so that it unhooks from the bottom. You should now be able to move the front dryer panel to the side. Do not be alarmed if the drum begins to lean forward a little bit. This will be put back into place while reassembling your dryer.
Step 7: Using a vacuum tool attachment, you should be able to reach all of the dust collecting crevices your drying machine might have.
*Once you have cleaned the inside of your drying machine, you are now ready to reassemble your dryer.
Step 8: There should be holes at the inside bottom of your front panel. These will allow the hooks at the bottom of the machine to slide back into place. Here is where you would push the drum back into place if it had previously shifted.
Step 9: Re-screw the nuts into the inside wall of the machine to connect the front panel and the body of the machine.
Step 10: Reconnect the door switch and close the lid. Push down to lock the top lid into place.
Step 11: Re-screw the lint screen screws and replace the lint screen.
*WARNING: Before starting any repair, always make sure that the appliance is completely disconnected from the power source by unplugging it. This tutorial is meant to be a guide and should not be used in place of the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.
