Washing Machines

Summertime is the season of outdoor activities, whether it’s camping, barbecuing, or spending a day at the beach, we go through loads and loads of clothes during this season. High-capacity washing machines get the job done but constantly adding a high volume of clothing can lead to breakdowns.

  • Wash smaller loads, heavy loads like beach towels can damage your washer. Don’t wash heavy materials like carpets even if they fit in your washer it puts excess pressure on the motor.
  • Leave the washer door open when it’s not in use. The moisture is able to exit the washer and it helps avoid the musty smell.
  • Remove and clean out your filter. Many homeowners forget to do this every time a load is finished. Lint can clog the water pipes and this can lead to the washer stopping mid-cycle or not completely draining the water.
  • Cleaning the inside of your washer will reduce residue from soap, grease, and other buildups. You can clean the drum weekly with a damp cloth or you can run the washer with white vinegar or lime juice to reduce greasy buildup.
