How to Clean Your Stand Mixer

The holidays aren’t for just using your stand mixer, you can use it all year round! Over time food, dust, dirt, and grime can build up over time on your stand mixer. Follow these steps for a basic cleaning, keep reading for a deep cleaning of your stand mixer.

Supplies Your’ll Need:

  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda
  • Cotton Cloth
  • Small scrub brush
  • Toothpick or pipe cleaner
  1.  Unplug the stand mixer: Always make sure to unplug any appliance before cleaning or repairing it.
  2. Hand-wash attachments: Hand wash any separate attachments such as beaters, hooks, and pouring shield. Washer these in warm water with soap. Then dry the attachments.
  3. Clean mixing bowl: To wash your mixing bowl use dish soap, hot water, and scrub away or simply put in in your dishwasher. Consider using a stainless steel cleaner on your mixer bowl to remove any water spots and keep is shiny!
  4. Clean hard to reach area with baking soda: Use baking soda to clean those tough areas. Use baking soda and a brush to remove any food stains that can accumulate over time. Pay close attention to the speed control strip and the bowl clamp plate.
  5. Wipe inside attachment hubUse a screwdriver to unscrew the attachment hub and wipe down inside.
  6. Clean the motor head: Yes that motor head needs cleaning too! Tilt the motor head back and lock it into place. Then wipe it down with soap or a cotton rag.
  7. Clean the beater shaftThe beater shaft and even the clip can accumulate small ingredients over time and needs to be cleaned over time. Use a paper towel or even a small brush to remove the dirt and grime buildup.
  8. Clean the ventilation shaft: Use a vacuum or even a toothpick to remove dust and food from the ventilation shaft. Make sure that this area is clear at all times.
  9. Dust and Clean the bottom: Place the stand mixer on its side and wipe down underneath using a rag or paper towel with a cleanser.
