Tips to keep your New Year’s Resolution!

Did you vow that 2019 is finally your year to really keep your house clean and tidy?? This is a common resolution every year, but it can be a lot more difficult to actually keep it than it seems. Here are some easy tips to make staying true to your resolution easier!

Start by making your cleaning goals more specific- focus on a certain area of the house or particular aspect of cleaning. This will make your goal more attainable, as opposed to swearing to keep the entire place clean all year long (because who could manage that?).

Be sure that every new thing that enters the house gets put in its proper place right away. Whether it’s the daily mail or the groceries, putting stuff away keeps clutter at bay. Similarly, every time something gets taken out, make sure it gets put away as soon as it is done being used.

Make your bed every morning. Even something this simple will keep a tidy appearance and help make your bedroom neat. Keep the closet tidy by keeping up on laundry frequently and hanging up anything that can be re-worn as soon as you take it off.

Make it a habit to clean up as you are cooking in the kitchen to prevent leaving a mess for later, and do dishes after every meal. Try running the dishwasher (if you have one) at night, and emptying it the next morning before the day’s meals.

It is a good idea to set aside 20-30 minutes each day for general cleaning purposes. This can help maintain a tidy home and prevent those dreaded all-day cleaning sessions. By keeping up a little at a time throughout each day, you can be sure to reach your New Year’s cleaning goals!
