Why Keep the Appliance Manuals?

Standard

Whenever an appliance in installed into the house, people look at the manual and then throw it away. However, did you know it may be a good idea to keep some of those manuals? Read below to see what should be kept and what can be tossed. It’s better to have them and not need them, then need them and not have them.

The important appliance manuals that should be kept would be the ones with air conditioners, refrigerators and stoves, but it’s always good to keep the manuals of the other big appliances such as the washing machine, the dryer and the dishwasher. Now, there are small appliances that manuals wouldn’t be necessary such as a coffee pot, a hair dryer or other products like that. They have the on/off buttons so there isn’t much more to that.

When keeping the manuals, don’t have them where you can’t find them because it would be pointless to keep them in that sense. Set up a filing system or a tote will the manuals in different folders. Split the machines into different sections such as “Kitchen” or “Clothing” or anything that will help you keep organized. When a new appliance is brought into a house or is replacing another machine, update the folders as to not confuse you in the time of need.

Now, keep in mind that there are certain things you will want to sell in the future or reuse etc. Keeping this manual to pass it along to future users is good too. These items can include car seats, cribs or any other item that goes along with younger children.

Staying organized and informative will be key when it comes to these manuals. Since they won’t be accessed frequently, keeping them in a labeled box in the basement or on a shelf in a closet will work perfectly. To keep the items up to date or labeled more fully, write the vendor name, keep the warranty, receipt and even the date it was purchased. This will help you stay even more organized for future reference.

Manuals can be more helpful than people realize. Keep these tips in mind when a new appliance has arrived at the house.
